I heard on the radio just the other day about a local woman that has a rare blood type . She produces red blood cells faster than most, and can donate more than usual . She said she began donating as a 'pay it forward ' kind of thing because her husband had suffered from lukemia ,and survived for yrs because of the generous blood donations of others . I thought it was inspiring ,as is the story about this man . What a wonderful thing it is that he can provide a cure for someone else ,to me that is a hero .....but then I do tend to think logically most of the time

If THIS MAN were a Jehovah's Witness 2 million babies would be dead
by Terry injames harrison has magical blood.. specifically, his blood contains an extremely rare enzyme that can be used to treat babies dying of rhesus disease.
if you've never heard of that disease and figure it's not a big deal, well, wait for the numbers.. harrison, being a generous type, has donated his rare, life-saving blood roughly 1,000 times over 56 years.
this has saved the lives of--seriously, you're not going to believe this--over two million babies around the world.. .

by minimus inwhen you were a witness, were you pretty much like you are now---personality wise?
are you calmer or more agitated?
are you that much different?.

My boss and my children tell me they like me better now !! Actually my boss said I appear happy and more natural now, not so tense .
As a witness I was always stressed out . I was in a constant state of worry . I hate to think back at how much I yelled at my children because we were running late for meetings or service . I felt the weight of responsibility for everyone's spirituality in the family .It distressed me when my husband would not take the lead and then I would feel pressured to make up excuses for his missed talks and service time.
In the congregation I was always the sister people came to for an encouraging word ,and a listening ear ....My Mother had always taught me to think of others first ,to put myself in their shoes .....This is a good lesson ,however I think I took it to an extreme ...to the point I didn't know what I Needed anymore . Today I am more careful not to become so wrapped up in other peoples problems .
I also was the type of person that cared about the less popular ones in the hall . I made a point of really talking to the lonely elderly sister sitting by herself ,or the semi active couple that others ignored . Now I focus on myself more ,and my immediate family ,it feels healthier .
I feel joyful now in my life . I smile so much more now and for no particular reason other than my insides are finally happy

Do you want/expect your kids to take care of you when you're old?
by GoingGoingGone ini had a conversation with my daughter tonight that got me pretty upset, and i'm wondering if i'm expecting too much from my kids.. both my kids went to outstanding colleges, have landed very well-paying jobs, and have very bright financial futures ahead of them.
this makes me especially happy because my husband and i have always had to struggle financially (we both grew up jws and never got to go to college.
) it was a sacrifice for us to send them to college, but i would do it all again in a heartbeat.

GGG ....my feelings would be hurt too if my children said that to me (they can think it ,but just never say it to me ) I would hope one of them would offer me a room if or when the need arises .
My Mother in law feels just the opposite ,she has said no matter what she will not live with any of her kids in her old age ( happy, happy, joy, joy for me ). No honestly I would want to help her ,because i am a kind and generous person (that usually lacks good judgement ).
****Commune idea **** My best friend has said this for yrs . We are all in our fifties and her idea is we have our own nursing home and take care of each other and pool our funds . I already told her I AM NOT CHANGING DIAPERS !

Very ,very true !
We were speaking to our son one night on the phone in front of some of our friends . He had just mentioned getting a good pay raise ,and we were kidding him about when would he be buying a house ,and getting married ......Just then one of our friends took the phone ,and told our son :
" You are the luckiest man alive ,and you should realize there is absolutely NOTHING you need to be happier !!! You get to spend or save your money anyway you want ,go any where anytime you want ! Don't ruin it ..." .......( I have a feeling my friend is in an unhappy marriage )
